The Oregon Department of Transportation maintains statistics on the number of motorcycle accidents and injuries that take place across our state every year. According to the most recent numbers, there are approximately 1,200 crashes involving motorcyclists reported in our state on an annual basis. The bad news is that most of these collisions involved injuries. Of the approximately 1,200 crashes, nearly 1,000 motorcyclists also sustained injuries of some description, and, sadly, 60 people were killed. These numbers come out to a greater than 80% chance that motorcycle riders will be hurt when they are involved in an accident.
