Pedestrian Accidents in Oregon
In 2021, Oregon experienced its highest number of fatal pedestrian accidents in several years. On average, approximately 1,000 people lose their lives in various types of Oregon traffic accidents each year. A pedestrian accident in Oregon carries a much greater risk of death or serious injury for the victim. This is because victims are completely unprotected when they are involved in a pedestrian crash. More than 85% of pedestrians involved in crashes will suffer injuries, with many injuries being serious or fatal.
Due to the manner in which they occur, a pedestrian accident often presents a complicated situation for investigators. Many pedestrian crashes take place at night, in poorly-lit areas, and there are often no witnesses to the accident except the victim and the driver. This can make it difficult to determine how the accident occurred and who should be held responsible. If you or a family member have been affected in a pedestrian accident, however, it is vitally important to know the facts so that you can receive any compensation to which you might be entitled.
