Motorcycle Accidents in Oregon

Unfortunately, motorcycling can be a very dangerous pastime. With more than 120,000 motorcycle accidents registered in Oregon, it is clear to see the risk that is involved. The most dangerous type of motorcycle accidents tends to happen on highways, where speeds are higher and visibility can be an issue.

Oregon is also known for its wet weather which is also a significant contributor to the number of motorcycle accidents that happen here every year. Even if a motorcyclist takes every precaution possible, other motorists may not see them, and their vehicles might not be able to break in time if the roads are wet. If you or a loved one has been injured or even killed in a motorcycle accident, you need the help of an experienced Gresham motorcycle accident attorney.

That is not to say that weather is the only hazard Oregon motorcyclists face on the road. There is also an ever-growing prominence of auto accidents which can be tied back to distracted driving. Far too often, serious and fatal accidents take place due to other drivers being careless with their cell phones or using their hands to do other things besides driving.

More than 5,000 motorcyclists were killed nationwide in 2019, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It is also worthwhile to note that motorcyclists were, per mile traveled, about 29 times more at risk of fatal injuries than drivers of trucks, cars, and SUVs. Motorcyclists were also found to be four times as likely to sustain injuries in general.
