Oregon Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents in Oregon can be a devastating event for both victims and their family members. Hundreds of pedestrian accidents occur throughout our state each year. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, more than 85% of these collisions will result in injuries. Many of the injuries sustained will be serious in nature and will involve costly and long-term medical treatment. In the worst-case scenario, victims will lose their lives as a result of the crash.
Following a pedestrian crash, officials must conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. While the causes will vary, the majority of pedestrian accidents occur in dimly-lit areas and during the evening or nighttime hours when visibility is typically low. These collisions can be caused by negligent drivers, including those that are breaking traffic laws or are inattentive to the roadway. Unfortunately, there is often little that can be done to mitigate or reduce the impacts of a pedestrian crash.
