Bicycle Accidents in Oregon

A bicycle accident in Oregon can be a life-altering experience. Riders have high odds of being injured when they are involved in a crash with a vehicle. This is due to the fact that bicycles provide no protection from the impact of an accident. Bicyclists are often thrown from their bikes after the crash, further increasing the odds of a serious injury. The cause of each accident must be closely investigated in order to determine how it took place.

The large majority, more than 70%, of all bicycle crashes in Oregon take place on city streets and in urban areas. Many riders are hurt when drivers fail to yield the right of way or are distracted, leading to accidents that would otherwise be preventable. When a bicycle rider is injured in an accident, they may have certain legal rights under Oregon law. This includes the right to recover damages from the negligent driver such as pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills and possibly more.
