Fatal Car Accidents in Oregon

Approximately 500 people are killed each year in crashes that take place on Oregon’s roadways. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, this number is on the rise. Car crashes often involve the actions of careless or reckless drivers and can claim the lives of innocent motorists. Most accidents are preventable through the use of ordinary care and caution and are normally caused by some type of negligent driving behavior.

Under Oregon law, accident victims and their families have certain legal rights. This includes the right to file a lawsuit when you or a family member have been damaged by the negligent actions of someone else. If you have lost a loved one,  you could be entitled to file a wrongful death claim as the victim’s next-of-kin. These claims, however, can be complicated and they should only be handled by an attorney who has significant experience in this area.
