Oregon Car Accidents

According to statistics maintained by the Oregon Department of Transportation, approximately 38,000 reported crashes took place across Oregon in 2020. About 18,000 of these accidents involved injuries to one or more motorists and, sadly, 460 people were killed. These numbers indicate that about 1 in 2 Oregon car accidents will result in injuries. While no one ever expects to be injured in a collision, the statistics indicate that there is a significant likelihood of injuries if a crash occurs.

Due to the prevalence of negligent drivers on Oregon’s roadways, drivers and passengers are at risk each time they get behind the wheel of a vehicle. While there are precautions that can be taken to lower the chance of being involved in an accident, not all accidents can be avoided. In some cases, the negligent driver puts other motorists in a helpless position. The resulting impact of the crash can cause serious injuries that require expensive medical treatment and can change every aspect of your life in a negative way.

While an Oregon car accident can be a devastating experience for victims and family members, there is a reason for hope and optimism. If you were injured in a crash that was not your fault, Oregon law provides a means to recover damages from the driver who caused the accident. The compensation that you could receive will help offset many of the unexpected expenses that you are suddenly facing due to your accident.
