Newport, OR – Injury Crash on Highway 20 and Fruitvale Rd.

Newport, OR (April 8, 2022) – Police in Newport responded to the scene of an injury crash on Friday, April 8th. The accident was first reported just after 2:00 p.m. on Highway 20 near the intersection with Fruitvale Road.

According to an eyewitness report from the area, two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. The Newport Fire Department, along with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the crash. Paramedics also arrived shortly after. Reports indicated that one person was taken from the scene to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. It is unclear whether anyone else was hurt in the accident. The cause of the crash has not been determined and is still being investigated by authorities.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel if possible. No further information has been released at this time.
