Hit-and-Run Accidents in Oregon
Sustaining injuries in an auto accident can be devastating. Oregon alone sees about 31,000 people injured every year in auto accidents of all sorts, including hit-and-runs. Unfortunately, many of these victims suffer serious injuries due to events completely out of their control. Reckless and irresponsible driving is a significant factor in many of these types of accidents.
All auto accidents are dangerous, hit-and-runs are especially dangerous since nothing is protecting them from impact. While injuries sustained in hit-and-run accidents can be painful and disabling, they can also be very expensive. Being critically injured can keep somebody out of work for quite some time, which can burden families.
Many factors contribute to hit-and-run crashes, the most common being speeding, reckless driving, drunk driving, and distracted driving. Even if you are found partially at fault for an accident, you can still be entitled to financial compensation for medical bills and lost wages.
Thankfully, Oregon is a very accommodative state for victims with personal injury claims. If you have been injured in a car accident, make sure that you understand your rights and entitlements. If you have sustained injuries from an accident that was not your fault or that you are only partially at fault for then applying for a compensation claim may be a good idea. A Portland car accident lawyer can provide advice and support on what to do if this happens.
It is helpful to keep in mind that it is possible to still go about your life and responsibilities after an auto accident. Our team of professionals understands how difficult it can be for victims to get back on a solid financial grounding after an accident. We believe that all victims of auto accidents should be able to focus on resting and healing, not on how they are going to pay for their medical bills.
