Oregon Car Accidents
The Oregon Department of Transportation maintains statistics on car accidents that occur throughout our state. In 2020, there was a total of 38,141 reported crashes. From this number, about half of all accidents resulted in some type of injury for those involved. Motor vehicle crashes accounted for approximately 25,000 of these reported collisions with about 13,000 motor vehicle crashes ending in injuries.
Following an Oregon car accident, police must carefully examine the accident in order to determine how the crash took place. In most instances, the accident occurs due to the negligence of at least one driver. Speeding, careless driving, distraction, impairment, and failing to follow other basic traffic laws are typical reasons that a crash occurs. When you or a loved one have been victimized by an accident, you may wonder about your legal rights. This is especially true if you suffered injuries that have caused physical and emotional damage.
